DEVELOPMENTS:
1960s:
1966: the Australian version of Play School (taken from Britain) began broadcasting on the ABC.
1969: Australian television stations broadcast the Apollo moon landings live.
1970s:
1973 the opening of the Sydney Opera House by Queen Elizabeth II was broadcast around the world.
1975 colour television was officially launched in Australia on 1 March. Australia chose the 625-line PAL system for broadcasting.
1980s:
1980 multicultural broadcaster SBS was launched.
1989: the aggregation (combining) of regional television was announced. local stations were apart of commericial stations.
1990s:
1995 Pay TV began broadcasting in Australia.
